Too often, we can’t control the obstacles that will inevitably land in our path. But maybe we can control the way we choose to perceive and respond to them?
What is the story we can tell clients — through our actions — that their time and their needs and their frustrations matter to us? How can we turn their red lights to green?
As a business, it’s worth asking yourself what the need is that you satisfy. More often than not, this isn’t the same thing as answering the question of what service it is you provide or what product you make.
When I started this blog a year ago, I wasn’t sure where exactly I’d go with it. And I’m still not. But that year taught me a few things about where I’d like it to go in the future.
What’s the story you want to tell yourself about 2020 a decade from now? That it was a dumpster fire, best forgotten? Or that maybe, just maybe, it helped you become the person you needed to be?
Not so long ago, the best way to get more business was to be the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree in your field. But these days, even the wonkiest tree on the lot has a chance to be noticed.
Scarcity is such a prolific author. and writes so many of the stories we live that we’re often most thankful for the chance to be free of it. But what if we took the time to aim our thankfulness in another direction this year?
On this Veteran’s Day, I have to remind myself that when I say I serve my clients, it’s a pale shadow of what it means for the millions who can say they’ve served in the military.

Sometimes working with friends and family can be the wrong call, because the stories we tell people in different parts of our lives aren’t always compatible. But when they are, the experience can be wonderful.
